Many of the well-known people practicing the Law of Attraction mentions journaling.
So you may wonder, “Can consistent journaling help improve my manifestation results?” Valid question.
Have you tried to write a journal before and failed?
Either you stopped journaling after a while, or you felt it was a waste of time. Your desire never manifested itself.
Here’s the hack you need to know.
Consistency Is King
It doesn’t matter what topic we’re talking about.
Consistency is king. Do it once, and it’s not done. Do it consistently, and things are working.
What is consistency for journaling?
Daily. If you only write in your journal, when something super-interesting has happened, then it’s not enough. You need to get into the habit of writing every day.
When you write every day, you can start forming your present and your future.
How Can You Turn Consistent?
You need three things to create a habit and to be consistent.
- Make it easy
- Make it fast
- Make it stick
How to Make it Easy
Let’s say you’re on a diet.
You want to avoid things that make you fat instead of helping you reach your goal. But this afternoon, you’re absolutely craving something sweet. A Snickers bar.
A: You have a Snickers bar on your desk
B: You don’t have a Snickers bar in your house and the nearest shop is 30 minutes away
Which is easier?
Kind of obvious, right? And that’s how easy you need to make journaling. You should have your journal dangling in a chain around your neck.
Or at least to be the first thing you see in the morning.
Where should you journal? If it’s easier to write with a pen on a piece of paper, then have a paper journal. If you prefer an electronic version, then find one you like and set it to start automatically with your computer.
That makes it easy to remember and to journal.
How to Make it Fast
Fast is good.
Who has time for slow? Well, honestly, slow is also good. It gives you time to think.
But when it comes to building a new habit, fast is better to begin with.
How can you make journaling fast? By not forcing you to write for a fixed number of minutes. Or to fill out a fixed number of pages.
Just let the journaling flow naturally.
If you feel like challenging yourself later, once you’ve established the habit, feel free to do so. But for now, make it fast.
That’s another reason why I prefer a digital journal.
It’s fast. And easy to get access to. I’ve just set it to start automatically in the morning when I start my computer.
How to Make it Stick
You get into the habit of journaling daily the same way you can use for all other habits.
You use habit stacking. Habit stacking is when you add one new thing to an old and established habit. Let’s take an example.
Established habit: brushing your teeth in the morning.
New habit: as soon as I’ve brushed my teeth, I sit down to write my journal.
You can use any established habit. Other examples can be as soon as you’ve grabbed a cup of tea/coffee/water/milk, you open your journal and write. This will fast become a new habit.
But wait… What should you put into your journal that will help you manifest your desires?
What Should You Write?
In my electronic journal Inside of that journal, there are areas that I fill out every day.
The main points are the date, of course, the Morning Pages, which I keep ultra short. More important to me is the area about what I’m grateful for, what I appreciate having, and at the end of the day, I fill out my 3 wins for that day.
My secret sauce is the “What Do I Appreciate Having.”
Originally, I had called it, “What do I Want?” but that implies that I don’t have it. It will stay somewhere out in the future. Out of reach.
By renaming it, I made it sound likely that I already possess what I desire.
But without lying. I certainly would appreciate having those things like a house on the beach, a new wireless headset and a subscription to a newsletter I’ve had my eyes on.
You can do even better than that in your journal.
You can mix wishes with facts. In the area about what you’re grateful for, you can list what you have and are grateful for, and between those items, you can add things you desire.
Today, I’m grateful for:
- My son (which I have)
- My daughter (which I have)
- My new headset (which I want)
- My new phone (which I have)
- My dog (which I have)
And so forth.
As the last point on my list, I have “The good news I’ll receive today.” I added that inspired by Andrew Kap. And ever since I did, I’ve received good news. Every single day.
Conclusion
Consistent journaling can help you manifest more results.
If you’ve never journaled before, or only done it sporadically, then start by making it a consistent, daily habit. Do that by making it easy, fast and sticky.
Add areas to your journal that you fill out every day.
When you have some sort of template, it will also make it easier for you to know what to write about. And it will make it faster to write.
In your template, you should have areas for gratitude and what you appreciate having.
Fill those areas with what you have and what you want. By mixing it up, you trick yourself into believing that it’s possible to manifest your desires. And having faith is an important step on the way to success.
That’s the manifestation hack you need to know.
Now you can journal like a VIP.
